Welcome Home, James!

I was proud, happy and very relieved to greet my son at Volk Airfield on Tuesday night to welcome him home after a year of serving his country in Afghanistan. This was his second tour of duty as he also served a year in Iraq. Now he will be able to stay home and return to college, where he is studying to be an elementary school teacher. He plans to visit Longfellow in a few weeks. James has volunteered his time at Longfellow at least one week per year since he was in the sixth grade. He loves working with children and has been a special guest in PKP for many years. He has corresponded with my students this past year while serving in Afghanistan, answering questions and encouraging them to always work hard and do their best. Welcome home, son. Thank you for serving!
