New Class for 5th Grade

An exciting new class has been added to the fifth grade curriculum. Called advisory, the class is modeled after the classes by the same name that are taught at the middle school. This class concentrates on the social/emotional learning standards that are a part of every school's curriculum in the state of Illinois. In addition to providing another opportunity to address these important skills, it also will provide another way to help our 5th graders make the transition to middle school. Besides that, it should be fun! Students will be divided into groups of 9 or 10. The classes will be taught by homeroom teachers as well as other Longfellow staff members. We will begin the Monday after Thanksgiving with a "Getting to Know You" activity. A schedule of upcoming class topics will be available here soon.
